Dr. Abbie Smith-Ryan is a dedicated Exercise Physiologist and Nutrition Scientist, currently serving as a Ph.D., Exercise Physiologist, Nutrition Scientist Dr. Smith-Ryan received her undergraduate degree from Truman State University and completed her graduate studies in Exercise Physiology and Sports Nutrition at the University of Oklahoma, where she earned both her Master's and Ph.D. degrees. She is a fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine, National Strength and Conditioning Association, and International Society of Sports Nutrition, demonstrating her dedication to science.
Dr. Smith-Ryan leads one of few laboratories in the country spearheading innovative research exploring the impact of effective and feasible approaches to exercise and nutrition interventions to support body composition, cardiovascular health, and metabolic function. Her work spans diverse populations, ranging from athletes to clinical populations, with a special expertise in women’s health. Her human based clinical trial research is supported by the National Institutes of Health and various industry sponsors. A prolific author, Dr. Smith-Ryan has contributed over 190 peer-reviewed manuscripts, along with numerous scholastic books and chapters. She has been recognized as the Outstanding Sports Scientist of the Year (2022), Young Investigator of the Year (2015), and Nutrition Researcher of the Year (2013) from the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
